Biochemical Society meetings are CME, (Continuing Medical Education), approved by the Royal Colleges

The Society holds three international scientific meetings per year, throughout the UK and Ireland, each attracting up to 1,200 delegates. The meetings are based on colloquia carefully planned by the Society's scientific interest groups and include presentations by speakers of international standing and young researchers alike.

A varied social programme is offered providing speakers and delegates with the opportunity to mix. Meetings often include "Predoctoral Student Meetings" which give students a chance to present their work to a substantial audience. Members are encouraged to participate by presenting papers through poster display. Since 1994 an award for the best poster presented by a student member has been sponsored by Promega Ltd.

Registration for Society members is 25. Student and emeritus members attend free.

Other meetings include Harden Conferences. Unique to the Biochemical Society, these are residential research conferences covering a specialist topic and lasting 4-5 days. The conferences bring together scientists from various backgrounds with a common interest in - but varying approaches to - the topic of the conference. Members are entitled to apply for bursaries towards the registration fee.
The scientific interest groups also arrange one and two day independent meetings throughout the year.
