What is a Theme Panel?

The majority of the Society�s scientific coverage is encompassed by seven Theme Panels. Each panel has 15 members and a Chair, who are all drawn from the membership at large. The Chairs of the Theme Panels also form the Meetings Board which is Chaired by the Honorary Meetings Secretary.

The Theme Panel coverage is flexible since a topic of scientific interest may feature in more than one Panel, and emerging areas can be inserted in one or more themes. The Key words and major descriptors are added or removed on a regular basis to reflect the dynamism of the discipline of biochemistry. The Panels also provide an opportunity to develop interdisciplinary activities and to collaborate with a number of sister societies.
