The Biochemical Society organizes three classes of conference; Focused Meetings, Harden Conferences and the Annual Symposium Focused Meetings.  In addition, financial support is available to organizers of meetings recognized as a Biochemical Society Independent Meeting.

Conference proposals are welcomed for conferences taking place throughout the year, to compliment the Society's vibrant conferences programme.

Focused Meetings

Guidelines for submitting a Focused Meeting Proposal

Focused Meetings on life sciences topics can take place over 1 to 3 days, in any part of the country. The Society welcomes proposals for joint events with other organizations and will offer full secretariat support. The meeting proceedings are published in Biochemical Society Transactions.

Annual Symposium

Guidelines for submitting an Annual Symposium Focused Meeting Proposal

The Annual Symposium Focused Meeting is the most prestigious event in the Biochemical Society's calendar. In addition to the Focused Meeting guidelines, proposals for an Annual Symposium must meet the criteria that are detailed on the Society's Terms of Reference page. To submit a proposal, please use the following form. The Annual Symposium Focused Meeting receives c. �11,000 funding from Portland Press Limited, as well as fuill secretariat support from the Meetings Office. The meeting proceedings are published in a special issue of Biochemical Society Transactions and also as the online Biochemical Society Symposia Series.

Harden Conferences

Guidelines for submitting a Harden Conference proposal

Harden Conferences are 4-5 day residential research conferences covering a specialist topic. The conference proceedings are not published, in order to promote the discussion of novel research. Each Harden Conference receives �8,000 funding from the Biochemical Society, as well as fuill secretariat support from the Meetings Office.

To propose a Harden Conference please refer to the guidelines for submitting a Harden Conference proposal. Proposals for a Harden Conference must meet the criteria that are detailed on the Society's Terms of Reference page.

Independent Meetings

Independent Meetings are organized entirely by an outside organization for which the Biochemical Society offers support. Independent Meetings whose proceedings are published in Biochemical Society Transactions receive up to �4,000 support. Independent Meetings not published in Biochemical Society Transactions receive �500 funding. To submit a proposal, please use the following form.
